The service fee, explained
A small fee added when you pay online through SmartPlayr. Here’s exactly what it is, when you pay it — and when you don’t.
What is it?
When you pay for a booking, match or tournament online, a small service fee is added to the court price. The exact amount is always shown at checkout before you confirm — no surprises on your card statement. The venue receives the full court price; the fee is what keeps the payment side running.
When you pay it — and when you don’t
- It applies only to payments made online through the app.
- It’s always displayed before you confirm — you’ll never discover it afterwards.
- If you pay at the venue (cash or card at the desk), there’s no service fee.
What it pays for
- Secure card processing through Stripe — your card details never touch our servers.
- Instant confirmations, automatic receipts and hassle-free refunds when a booking is cancelled.
- It keeps SmartPlayr free to download and use for players.
What about refunds?
If you cancel within a venue’s free-cancellation window, the court price is refunded to your card. The service fee itself isn’t refunded — it covers payment costs that have already been incurred by the time you cancel.
